6th Company

6th Company Commander: 1/C Hunter Bohnenberger

1/C Hunter Bohnenberger: My name is Hunter Bohnenberger and I will be serving as the 6th Company Commander for the 2025-26 year. I am very excited and eager to get to work with the incoming class of Cadet Candidates and help teach them the values of Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Outside of my regimental duties here at the academy, I am from Mashpee Massachusetts. I enjoy hunting and fishing. I am a senior Emergency Management major and graduating in June 2026. I love going to the gym and setting personal goals and challenging myself is something that I do daily. I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of the incoming Cadet Candidates and shape them into regimental weapons.

Orientation Day 1

Good evening, Today was Day 0 of Orientation 2025. Today in 6th Company the new Cadet Candidates (C/C’s) learned the Mess Deck standards and received their sea bags. Their sea bags contained all of their uniforms, covers, boots, hard hats and all necessary items for Orientation and their time at MMA. After this the C/C’s learned basic facing movements such as left and right face, standing at attention, saluting, parade rest and about face. We have a lot of work ahead of us but my self and my 6th Company Staff are ready to turn each and everyone of the C/C’s into Regimental Weapons.

Very Respectfully, 1/C Hunter Bohnenberger, 6th Company Commander.

Orientation Day 2

Good evening, today marks Day 1 of Orientation 2025. Today in 6th Company the Cadet Candidates met their Cadre. They were introduced to all of their 2/C Squad Leaders, 03 Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and myself Company Commander. Following this we had morning meal and continued into important meetings that taught the C/C’s important knowledge that they need in order to thrive at the academy. We also had our first Patio today before noon meal. Patio is when the C/C’s are marched in front of the Mess Deck and their Regimental Staff ask them questions based on their youngie hand book. We had our first intramurals game today, unfortunately we lost to 1st Company in a hard fought water polo game. Your C/C’s are working hard and still motivated to become regimental weapons.

Very Respectfully, 1/C Hunter Bohnenberger, 6th Company Commander

Orientation Day 3

Good evening, today marks Day 2 of Orientation 2025. Today in 6th Company the Cadet Candidates finished getting their sea bags and uniforms exchanged with the bookstore staff. They also had a very important Title IX training and presentation. The C/Cs are getting better every day with youngie knowledge and their marching. We had a game of dodgeball against 2nd Company and we were not able to come out on top for the win. We will change that. Later on this evening myself and my senior staff were able to sit with all of the 6th Company C/Cs and get to know them better. We answered dozens of questions they had about the academy and it was a great opportunity for them to get to know their company staff better. We are still motivated as ever and hungry for that Admirals Cup.

Very Respectfully, 1/C Hunter Bohnenberger.

Orientation Day 4

Good evening, today, Mark’s day 3 of Orientation 2025. Today the Cadet Candidates had water survival training in the Mass Maritime pool. This consisted of the C/Cs learning how to group together in the event that the ship goes down or they have to evacuate the ship in a timely manner. They learned how to enter a life raft, how to exit a raft and how to flip a life raft over if it were to be overturned. Intramurals for the day were canceled due to the weather. We are looking forward to getting back after tomorrow. We are still motivated and ready to win the Admirals Cup.

Very Respectfully, 1/C Hunter Bohnenberger.

Orientation Day 5

Good evening, today the C/Cs had fire training. They went over basic equipment for firefighters such as SCBAs, hose rolling, hose handling and hooking up to hydrants. They are still motivated and getting ready for our mini cruise in a week.

Very Respectfully, 1/C Hunter Bohnenberger

Orientation Day 6

Orientation Day 7

Good evening, Today the C/Cs had Pond Day. The day consisted of the C/Cs learning how to operate a small sail boat, barge races and also rowing on a monomoy as a team. It was a good day for the C/Cs to get to know each other a little bit better and motivate them. We had an electric win against 1st Co today in ultimate frisbee as well.

Very Respectfully, 1/C Hunter Bohnenberger.

Orientation Day 8

Orientation Day 9

Orientation Day 10

Today the Cadet Candidates woke up aboard the Patriot State II. They had their first meal this morning in the mess deck. After this we had our Coast Guard inspection that ensured we were good to go with our knowledge of fire emergencies and abandon ship operations. After this the C/Cs had meetings and spent most of the day with their Squad Leaders and Senior Staff. Tomorrow we are looking forward to seeing New York and SUNY Maritime. The C/Cs are learning new things about the ship every day and are excited to get back as well and graduate.
