I am the Regimental Executive Officer (RXO) for the 2026-2027 year, majoring in Energy Systems Engineering with a concentration in Automation, and I am from Taunton, Massachusetts. I currently hold a contract with the Marine Corps and plan to commission as a 1st Lieutenant upon graduating from Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA). Over the summer of 2026, I attended USMC Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Quantico, Virginia, and had the privilege of earning the title of US Marine. MMA has helped me achieve this goal by constantly improving my physical fitness, mental endurance, and leadership ability. I am ecstatic to lead a regiment of disciplined cadets and grow as a leader.

My name is 1/C Michael Sciarini, and I am honored to serve as the Regimental Academic Operations Officer for the 2026–2027 academic year. I am originally from Plymouth, Massachusetts, and a proud graduate of Plymouth South High School.

In my role at the Academy, my goal is to help foster a productive, supportive, and academically driven environment for all students. I also hope to highlight and strengthen the appreciation for the outstanding academic programs and opportunities that the Massachusetts Maritime Academy has to offer. I look forward to working with the Regiment and the Academy community to promote academic excellence and help our students reach their full potential. Go Bucs!

Hi everyone!

My name is Sylvia Mattraw Johnston, and I will be serving as the Regimental Military and Veterans Liaison Officer for the 2026 Regimental Staff. During Orientation, I will be serving as the Uniform Liaison, where I will be directly responsible for ensuring that each Cadet Candidate receives and is properly fitted for their required uniforms.

Throughout the academic year, I will serve as a resource for military personnel attending the Academy, helping ensure they are supported and accommodated in both their military obligations and academic responsibilities.

I am from Upstate New York and am a Marine Transportation major. I am also a member of the Academy’s Strategic Sealift Midshipman Program (SSMP). Following graduation, I hope to ship out and pursue a career serving my country. I am beyond excited for the opportunity to work with the incoming Cadet Candidates and to help make their transition to the Academy as smooth, enjoyable, and rewarding as possible. I look forward to meeting everyone and being a resource throughout their time at the Academy!

My name is Leticia Ferrari, and I am from Methuen, Massachusetts. I am excited to serve as this year’s Regimental Global Engagement Officer (RGEO). I am an International Maritime Business major with a concentration in Project Management. Outside of the Regiment and academics, I have been involved across the Academy as President of The Hidden Opponent and Vice President of the Women in Business Club. These experiences have allowed me to connect with different members of our community while continuing to grow as a leader.

As we approach Orientation, I am especially excited to see the growth of not only our Cadet Candidates, but also our Squad Leaders, who have dedicated countless hours to preparing for this experience. Orientation is an opportunity to set the foundation for the incoming class and introduce them to the standards, traditions, and leadership that make our Academy unique. I am also looking forward to working alongside an incredible Regimental Staff and supporting our World Leadership Program. I am excited to help create an environment where our cadets can develop the leadership skills, global awareness, and confidence that will serve them both at the Academy and beyond. I cannot wait to see everything we accomplish together throughout Orientation and the upcoming academic year!

My name is 1/C Robert Sample, and I am proud to be the Regimental Community Service Officer for the 2026-’27 academic year. This position gives me the unique opportunity to help cadets connect with and help the communities at and nearby the academy. The RCSO is tasked with coordinating and providing information regarding community service opportunities, as well as track the progress of 4/C and 3/C cadets towards their required amount of community service. 

I am from Braintree Massachusetts, a Marine Engineering major, and one of the electrical rates for sea term this year. I absolutely love the life associated with going to sea and I am thrilled to sail aboard commercial vessels when I graduate. Growing up around the water is what drove me to enroll at MMA, and it is what continues to fuel my passion for both my education and long-term career. 

I’m 1/C Tucker Bumila and I am the 2026-27 Regimental Intramurals Officer. I study Emergency Management at the Academy and I hope to go into a career of law enforcement, specifically serving my hometown of Raynham MA. As Intramural’s Officer I hope to be a moral raiser through sports, and staying active, for the new class of cadets coming in during both orientation, and the academic year. This along with shipmate bonding is two of the reasons why I chose to peruse this position, in hopes to bring back a high sense of pride to those who come and graduate from the academy. I look forward to what the year has in store for me and the rest of the senior leadership team, and I am excited to see the class of 2030 come in and develop into cadets.
