7th Company Commander: 1/C Tyler Fountain
Hello Everyone,
My name is 1/C Tyler Fountain and I will be the 7th Company Commander for the 2024-2025 academic year. I am from Barnstable, Massachusetts and majoring in Emergency Management here at the Academy. As Company Commander, I will be working closely with my Company Officer and my Senior Staff team to not only oversee the appearance and daily functions of the company, but to help guide and develop my team of Squad Leaders. I am looking forward to the year and all the opportunities that await!
Orientation Day 1 08/18
Today Seventh Company’s Cadet Candidates took their first steps towards success here at Mass Maritime. Me and my team of top notch squad leaders are honored to have the ability to shape them into members of the regiment. Today, the CCs were distributed uniforms, taught facing movements, and learned how to march. After dinner there was a medical briefing with Dr. Cukor, and a fire drill on the parade field to ensure the CCs know how to safely exit their dorms.
Orientation Day 2 08/19
Today was a day of learning. The Cadet Candidates met their Squad Leaders and Senior Staff members before their long day began. They began the day by making sure their uniforms fit nice and snug, followed by several meetings regarding Academy procedures and history. 7th Company battled tough against 2nd Company in intramural dodgeball.
Orientation Day 3 08/20
Today the Cadet Candidates of Seventh Company had their first PT session and gave it their very best. After breakfast, the CCs got fitted in their uninforms and took ID phots in the ABS. Seventh had a rough performance at intramurals today but we remain hungry. After dinner, we had two meetings in admirals hall about Title Nine and Inclusivity. Given by the Title Nine Coordinator Mrs. Murphy and the Paul Cuffe Center for Inclusion respectively. It was a great day for Seventh Company, and we’re very pleased with the progress that has already been made.
Orientation Day 4 08/21
The day started off with the cadet candidates doing PT in the morning followed by breakfast and spending time in the gym making sure all of their uniforms fit properly. My Squad Leaders spent a significant amount of time working with the cadet candidates on their marching skills and Academy knowledge. They were taught how to all march in step with one another and follow the cadences that were being spouted. Their knowledge is steadily improving and will eventually become second nature. Before heading to intramurals, they had a meeting with 1/C McNamara who is the Student Government Association (SGA) President regarding what the SGA is and how to join. The night ended with two meetings; one with Health Services and the other with Career Services. The cadet candidates are gradually improving. Their knowledge and marching are improving day by day and parents should feel proud of what their cadet candidate will become by the end of orientation.
