Orientation Day 11 – August 26, 2026

Day two aboard the training ship was a day full of fun for everyone! Youngies mustered on the helo-deck at sunrise, while we cruised around Cape Cod. We tied up at MMA around 9:30, after C/Cs manned the rails through the canal for our return.

The best part of the day was the “Maritime Competitions”. Cadet Candidates competed in games, with points for the winners going towards Admiral’s Cup. C/Cs worked to decipher words using flags, unroll fire hoses, put on firefighter gear, and throw lines as far as they could. All of these events continued to grow candidates’ teamwork and sportsmanship, and the fight for their companies.

C/Cs spent some time in the evening cleaning our training ship, to ensure we leave it better than we found it when we disembark tomorrow. Once this was completed, everyone hung out on the helo-deck to admire the sunrise and take some group pictures! Mini-cruise has been an amazing experience for those that have never boarded a ship, but everyone looks forward to continuing orientation on land tomorrow.
